Pet Dental Care

Dental problems in your pet not only cause an annoying “bad breath” smell, but infection, gingivitis and plaque can lead to serious medical conditions in the rest of your pet’s body by spreading bacteria to the heart, kidneys and other internal organs. Keeping your pet’s mouth clean can add years to his or her life. There are 4 stages of dental disease, and the cleaning process varies with each.

At your pet's annual checkup we check the overall health of the mouth and will relay to you if there is dental disease present and if a dental cleaning would be beneficial, you may schedule at that time or call us back. (Keep in mind we have only 16 slots for dental cleanings in each month.) If you suspect that your pet has dental disease and we have not seen him/her recently, you should schedule a consultation with one of our doctors in order to determine the best steps to correct these dental problems. Your pet may need an intensive cleaning in our hospital, just like you would receive at your dentist; we also carry several products that will help keep your pet’s mouth in a healthier condition and extend the time needed between dental cleanings.
